Acai Berry Information
The Acai Berry is considered to be superfood, but why? Why is it’s nutritional makeup so vastly superior to that of say your average Thompson grape? Could it be because of where it is grown? Possibly. Could it be because of it’s dark color. That has something to do with it, sure. But at the core the Acai ranks supreme over many other berries and fruits because of it’s pulp. The pulp of the berry is where it gains its nutritional wonder food value.
Dr. Perricone’s of Oprah.com list many of the secrets of Acai’s pulp in plain everyday language.
Açaí pulp contains:
- A remarkable concentration of antioxidants that help combat premature aging, with 10 times more antioxidants than red grapes and 10 to 30 times the anthocyanins of red wine.
- A synergy of monounsaturated (healthy) fats, dietary fiber and phytosterols to help promote cardiovascular and digestive health.
- An almost perfect essential amino acid complex in conjunction with valuable trace minerals, vital to proper muscle contraction and regeneration.
